About Tribe Collection

Tribe Collection is a pioneering hospitality group comprising luxury hotels, internationally acclaimed restaurants and spas, and a shopping mall that specializes in local art and design.

Rooted deeply in Kenyan culture, we aim to be the benchmark of excellence in Kenyan hospitality. We celebrate our people, culture, and craft – bringing the best of Kenya to the world – and ensure our impact flows back through the community.

“People were looking for a new kind of African experience, so we set out to meet that need”

OUR Story

Shamim and Hooman Ehsani, two Iranian brothers, saw a clear opportunity in their new home of Nairobi: to build the first luxury hotel in the city. What began as a plan for a 60-room property grew into something more ambitious – Tribe Hotel, a five-star, 128-room landmark.

And the story didn't end there. Over the next decade, the portfolio expanded to include Trademark Hotel and Trademark Suites, eight restaurants and Village Market shopping mall – forming what is now Tribe Collection.

What brings their businesses together is their unique design, vibrant atmosphere and commitment to sustainability and the people who are at the heart of each business. As warm as they are welcoming, Tribe Collection's properties are created to lift up and embrace their guests and staff alike.

Community

We celebrate, empower and nurture the people who make up the fabric of our properties and services.

It's our goal to serve our local community as much as our guests and customers, and share our successes with the people who make it possible. We do this through two main efforts: by creating valuable jobs and opportunities for growth for our local staff, and promoting goods from local artisans and workers. We're proud to share locally made soaps, robes and slippers in our hotels, as well as Kenyan teas and coffee at all our properties. And of course any of our cherished staff would be happy to share more about their stories or share their favourite spots in the city.

Conservation

Kenya is our home and treating our environment with the highest respect is integral to us.

Our commitment towards conservation is based on the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle, and we take a broad range of actions to implement them – from water filtration and sewage treatment to creating insect food compost from food waste and jet engine from cooking oil. In order to reduce our carbon footprint we've made a fleet of bicycles available at our properties and have moved towards electric vehicles for hotel transfers. We are also a founding member of Karura forest and have partnered with them to host tree planting events.
